Abstract

By the phenomenon of using two or more languages, sociolinguistics called it code switching and code mixing. The majority of Indonesians are bilingual or multilingual, so they often mixed their language while talking. This research aims are to analyzed the types and reasons of code mixing that uttered by the caster of PMPL South East Asia Championship Play-in Spring 2022. This research applied descriptive qualitative method to analyze the data in the video. The findings of this study are presented as follows. First, all the types of code mixing were appeared in the video. The total data found was 101 total data and intra-sentential became the mostly type appeared in the video. Second, from the seven reasons of code mixing, only five reasons appeared in the video with 104 data such as talking about particular topic, being empathic about something, interjection, repetition used for clarification and identify group identity and solidarity. The most reason of the caster mixed their language is talking about particular topic which appeared for 87 times because the most reason of the caster mixed their language is to talk about the game itself.
