THE ANALYSIS OF CODE MIXING USED BY FOOTBALL BROADCASTERS TALKS IN LIGA 1 INDONESIA

The research is concerned with the sub-element of sociolinguistics study that is the
phenomenon of code mixing that found within the talks of football broadcasters in Liga
1 Indonesia, specifically the matches between Bali United FC vs. Persija Jakarta and
then PSIS Semarang vs. Bhayangkara FC. The objectives of the study are to discover
the types and functions of the insertion of code mixing. This study uses the approach
of descriptive qualitative methodology in order to give very well-structure and the
clearest information. The use of text narrations and tabulation attaches should help
present the finding. This study uses the theory that proposed by Hoffman (1991) in the
intention to solving the objectives of the study. This study shows the overall data of
code mixing have found is 232. For the results, all types of code mixing were found,
and the most dominance type is Intra-sentential Code Mixing with 213 utterances, then
following by type of Intra-lexical Code Mixing with 16 utterances, and the last is
Involving a Change of Pronunciation with only 3 utterances. Intra-sentential Code
Mixing become the most frequent type that used by the broadcasters because they
mixed their codes within sentence boundary. Meanwhile, all functions of using code
mixing were found, and the highest functions shown to Talking About Particular Topic
with 196 data, and following by Quoting Somebody Else with 13 data in second rank,
and for the other functions were found under than ten utterances each.
