Abstract

The aims of this study are to find out the types of slang on post/comment and the slang formation in Bali Surfing Community. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach. By reading the posts and comments in the Bali Surfing Community, the information was gathered. This study answered the question by employing theorybased slang word forms and post/comment slang kinds based on Chapman's (2007) and Mattiello's (2008) theories. There were twenty data examined. Slang can be divided into two categories: primary slang and secondary slang. There were four words that were identified as primary slang ; blody, kooks, folks, gang, this research found 16 secondary slang, namely Man, fuck, lol, gonna, cause, y’all, fuckin, havnt, revolut, photog,thx, I’ma, tryna, perf, feelin, makin, the slang word formation used for creating the slang word are five, namely compounding, acronyms, and initialisms, blending, clipping, and word manufacture and fanciful formation. There were two compounding, two acronyms and initialisms, two blending, five clipping, and two words manufacture and fanciful formation.
