Abstract

The study aims at improving writing skill of the tenth-grade students of SMK Saraswati 1 Denpasar through PPP combined with Picture. PPP combined with picture is a technique of teaching writing in the present study. The undertaking of this research was mainly based on the preliminary study. The subjects were the tenth-grade students of SMK Saraswati 1 Denpasar which consisted of 35 students. The design of this research was classroom action research design. The research was carried out through improving writing skill using PPP combined with picture in two cycles and the obtained data was analyzed quantitatively from the pre-test and posttest 1 and post-test 2; and qualitatively from the questionnaire. The result showed that there was significant improvement of the subjects’ skill in writing descriptive paragraph. In the pre-cycle, the mean score was 64.23, and it improved in cycle I 76.49. Finally, it became 79.11 in cycle II. In addition, the questionnaire proved that the subjects’ responses toward improving writing skills through PPP combined with picture were positively responded during the teaching-learning process. In short, the current classroom action research showed that writing skill of the tenthgrade students of SMK Saraswati 1 Denpasar in academic year 2022/2023 could be improved through PPP combined with picture.
