Abstract

The study aims at figuring out the implementation of the writing skill of the Eighth-grade students of SMPN 3 Gianyar through Tell-Show Strategy with Picture. Tell-show strategy with picture is a strategy of teaching writing in this present study. The undertaking of this research was mainly based on preliminary study. The subjects were the eighth-grade students of SMPN 3 Gianyar which consists of 45 students. The design of this research was classroom action research design. The research was carried out through implementing Tell-Show Strategy with Picture in two cycles and the obtained data was analyzed quantitatively from the pre-test and post-test 1 and post-test 2; then the qualitatively from the questionnaire. The result showed that there was significant improvement of the subjects’ skill in writing descriptive paragraph pre-cycle (64.02) up to cycle 1 (71.29) then, it improved in cycle II (78.93). In addition, the questionnaire proved that the subjects’ responses toward the implementation of Tell-Show Strategy with picture were positive during the teaching-learning process. In short, the study showed that writing skill of the eighth-grade students of SMPN 3 Gianyar in academic years 2022/2023 could be improved through Tell-show Strategy with picture.
