Abstract

Writing skill is one of four important skills which has to be essentially mastered. In fact, most of the students in senior high school faced problem in writing skill. The objective of the present study was to find out whether the extent of writing skill of the seventh-grade students of SMPN 12 Denpasar in academic year 2022/2023 could be improved through Think Pair Share with Picture Word Inductive Model through classroom action research. Therefor to achieve the objective of the present study the researcher activities consisted of pre-test, posttest and questionnaire. Based on the result of pre-test which was carried out in the pre-cycle, it pointed out that subject’s ability in writing skill especially writing descriptive paragraph was categorized is good. The present classroom action research was then carried out through Think Pair Share with Picture Word Inductive Model. The result of the post-test I in second session showed that the subject’s progress was decreased than pre-test before. In addition, the result of the post-test II in the last session there was significant progress concerning the subject’s ability writing skill in which improved from the good level to excellent. This research furthermore showed that there was changing learning behaviour as the result of the positive response concerning the technique applied in improving the subject’s writing skill. To sum up, the present classroom action study proved that writing skill of the seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 12 Denpasar in academic year 2022/2023 could be improved through Think Pair Share with Picture Word Inductive Model through classroom action research. In addition, the subjects also responded positively.
