THE CORRELATION BETWEEN GRAMMAR MASTERY AND RECOUNT TEXT WRITING ABILITY OF THE TENTH-GRADE STUDENTS OF SMA NEGERI 5 DENPASAR IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2022/2023

This correlational study is aimed at finding out the correlation between grammar mastery and recount text writing ability of tenth-grade students of SMA Negeri 5 Denpasar in academic year 2022/2023. The samples were chosen by using a random sampling method with a lottery system with as many as 63 students involved in the research. The researcher used two tests to get the data of grammar mastery and recount text writing ability, such as: grammar test and writing test. The obtained data were calculated by using the Prerequisite and Hypothesis Testing formula which assisted by SPSS 25 version for windows. Then the result of normality and homogeneity test showed that the data were distributed normally and homogeneous or have same variance. Based on the data analysis, it showed that there is significant correlation between grammar mastery and recount text writing ability of the tenth-grade students of SMA Negeri 5 Denpasar in academic year 2022/2023. Therefore, it answered the research question that there is a significant correlation between grammar mastery and recount text writing ability
