CORRELATION BETWEEN LISTENING ENGLISH SONG HABIT AND LISTENING ACHIEVEMENT OF THE FIRST SEMESTER STUDENTS OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE EDUCATION STUDY PROGRAM IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2022/2023

This correlational study is aimed to find out the correlation between listening English song habit and listening achievement of the first semester students of English Language Education Study Program in the academic year 2022/2023. The sample was chosen by using cluster sampling, with many as 30 students. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire and test; a listening English song habit questionnaire and a listening test. A listening English song habit questionnaire is used to know the students’ listening English song habit while listening test is used to find out the students listening achievement in identifying specific information. The obtained data were assessed by using Product Moment’s formula and analyzed by using SPSS. The data analysis showed a significant correlation between listening English song habit and listening achievement of the first semester students of English Language Education Study Program in the academic year 2022/2023. It is proved by the result of rxy is 0.365, which that in the medium correlation. It means that null hypothesis (Ho) in this research is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) which states that there is a correlation between listening English song habit and listening achievement is accepted. It can be concluded that there is a significant correlation between listening English song habit and listening achievement
