THE CORRELATION BETWEEN WATCHING ENGLISH MOVIE HABIT AND VOCABULARY MASTERY OF THE EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMP NEGERI HINDU 2 SUKAWATI IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2021/2022

English movies have a special attraction for students in learning English, especially vocabulary mastery. Students will try to find the meaning and study to interpret that difficult word on the movie. Watching English movie habit has an important role in the vocabulary mastery because students who have the habit of watching English movie will have high vocabulary mastery as well. The objective of this study was to find out the significant correlation between Watching English Movie Habit and Vocabulary Mastery of The Eighth Grade Students of SMP Negeri Hindu 2 Sukawati in Academic Year 2021/2022. The design was correlation study research design. The sample was 40 students. In collecting the data of this research, the writer used two types of tests: questionnaire gave to the students to know student’s habit in watching English movies and vocabulary test in order to know student’s vocabulary mastery. It got score of 4.740 for watching English movie habit and 3.236 for vocabulary mastery. The data were analyzed by using SPSS 25.0 that consists of Normality test, Homogeneity test, Pearson Product Moment and T-testing. The finding out of the study revealed that the hypothesis in this study was moderate correlation accepted. According to the result of Pearson Product Moment, it is found that r was 0.459. It lies between 0.400 – 0.600 which is in at a moderate level. Based on the result, it can be concluded that there is a significant correlation between watching English movie habit and vocabulary mastery of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri Hindu 2 Sukawati in academic year 2021/2022.
