THE STUDY OF CODE-SWITCHING FOUND IN NESSIE JUDGE'S YOUTUBE VIDEOS

This research focused on the types and reasons for Nessie Judge youtube videos. This study also has specific aims (1) To find out the types of code-switching in Nessie Judge Youtube Videos; and (2) To analyze the reasons that influence the codeswitching found in the Nessie Judge Youtube Videos. The data was collected from two videos that were taken from her youtube channel and in this research the writer was analyzed using a qualitative method. The method was applied to make a clear analysis of the data according to theory Appel and Muysken (1987) and Hoffman (1991). The findings of this research show that all types and reasons for code-switching have been found. There are 60 data with a 100% percentage of three types of code-switching. The types code-switching consists of 13 data (21,66%) tag switching, 18 data (30,00%) inter-sentential switching, and 29 data (48,33%) intra-sentential switching. Second, there are 60 data with 100% percent of seven functions of code-switching. The functions code-switching consists of Talking about Particular Topic 11 data (18,33%), Quoting Somebody Else 2 data (03,33%), being Emphatic about Something 5 data (16.66%), Interjection 11 data (18,33%), Repetition 7 data (11,66%), Intention Clarifying the speech 19 data (31,66%), and Expressing group Identity 5 data (08,33%). The phenomenon of code-switching through time is becoming highly complicated. The phenomenon of code-switching occurs in the classroom in the teaching-learning process. In the subject of linguistics, code-switching is a fascinating topic to discuss, especially in sociolinguistics research.
