THE CORRELATION BETWEEN GRAMMAR MASTERY AND WRITING ABILITY OF THE TENTH GRADE STUDENTS AT SMA NEGERI 1 SELEMADEG IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2021/2022

The focus of this research, which adopts ex-post facto research with correlation design, is to find a significant relationship between grammar mastery and writing ability of tenth graders of SMA Negeri 1 Selemadeg in the 2021/2022 academic year. The research sample consisted of 38 students who were randomly selected for the study. Data was collected using research instruments in the form of a contextualized grammar editing tasks and a text construction test. The data were analyzed statistically using Pearson's product-moment correlation and t-test. The alternative hypothesis is clearly accepted based on the results of data analysis. In other words, the research findings show that there is a significant correlation between grammar mastery and the writing ability of tenth graders at SMA Negeri 1 Selemadeg in the 2021/2022 academic year.
