Abstract

Reading skills is a series of processes that what readers do to find information and understand the information contained in a reading text. The preliminary observation found that the students in senior high school had problems in reading comprehension. The students were difficult to find general information and textual reference. The present classroom action research dealt with The Use of Scaffolding Reading Experiences (SRE) Strategy to Improve Reading Skill of the Tenth Grade Students of SMK PGRI 2 Denpasar in Academic Year 2022/2023. This research was conducted in two cycles where a cycle had two sessions. The research administered the research instruments in collecting the needed data. The data were analyzed by comparing the result of pre-test and post-test, and it showed that there were improvements of subject’s achievement from pre-test to post-test. As supporting data, the researcher gave the questionnaire to the students at the end of the last cycle, and the result showed positive responses of the implementation of Scaffolding Reading Experience (SRE) strategy in improving reading skill. Based on the result of pre-test, post-test, and questionnaire, it could be concluded that reading skill of the tenth grade students of SMK PGRI 2 Denpasar in academic year 2022/2023 can be improved through Scaffolding Reading Experience (SRE) Strategy.
