Abstract
The objective of this classroom action research was intended to figure out whether or not the writing skills of the ninth-grade students of SMP Negeri Hindu 2 Sukawati can be improved through brainstorming combined with flashcards. Brainstorming is a group problem-solving technique that involves the spontaneous contribution of creative ideas and solutions. Flashcard is a media that is used to support the implementation of brainstorming technique. The subject was the ninth-grade students of SMP Negeri Hindu 2 Sukawati in academic year 2022/2023, especially the students of the IX B class. There were 40 subjects which consist of 16 females and 24 males. This research was carried out in two cycles and there were four steps for each cycle (planning, action, observation, and reflection). The obtained data was analyzed quantitatively from the pre-test, post-test 1, and post-test 2 and qualitatively from the questionnaire. The result showed that the writing skills of the ninth-grade students of SMP Negeri Hindu 2 Sukawati in academic year 2022/2023 can be improved through brainstorming combined with flashcards.
