Abstract

The present study aimed at figuring out whether writing skill of the seventhgrade students of SMPN 5 Kuta Selatan can be improved through the implementation of Tell-Show Strategy Combined with Picture. Tell-Show Strategy is a teaching technique that combines Tell-Show and a teaching media in the form of a picture. The research was mainly based on the preliminary study of 30 subjects, the seventh-grade students of SMPN 5 Kuta Selatan in academic year 2022/2023. The research design was classroom action research, and the research was carried out through implementing Tell-Show Strategy Combined with Picture in two cycles. Furthermore, the obtained data were gathered by administering pre-test, post-test 1, post-test 2 and questionnaire. The results showed that there was a significant improvement in the subjects’ descriptive paragraph writing ability. The questionnaire proved that the subjects agreed toward the implementation of TellShow Strategy Combined with Picture during the teaching learning process. Based on the results of the investigation, it can be concluded that the present study clearly showed that writing skill of the seventh-grade students of SMPN 5 Kuta Selatan in academic year 2022/2023 can be improved through Tell-Show Strategy Combined with Picture.
