THE CORRELATION BETWEEN VOCABULARY MASTERY AND DESCRIPTIVE PARAGRAPH WRITING ABILITY OF THE EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMP WIDYA SAKTI DENPASAR IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2022/2023]

This research discussed the correlation between vocabulary mastery and descriptive paragraph writing ability of the eighth-grade students of SMP Widya Sakti Denpasar in academic year 2022/2023. This research aimed at figuring out the correlation between vocabulary mastery and descriptive paragraph writing ability. The samples were carefully selected by applying probability sampling by using random sampling technique with lottery system so that there were 30 students who were selected. Furthermore, to collect the data, the researcher used two kinds of instruments; sentence construction and paragraph sentence construction test. The collected data were analyzed by means of Pearson Product Moment Correlation test and T-test. Based on the results of data analysis, the results of this research showed that there was a significant correlation between vocabulary mastery and descriptive paragraph writing ability.
