Abstract

The present study aims at finding out the correlation between students reading habit and their ability of writing narrative text of tenth grade of SMAK Harapan Denpasar in academic year 2022/2023.This study used the tenth grade population of SMAK Harapan Denpasar as a samples. There were 60 respondents who came from two different classes. The design in this study was correlational research design. In collecting the data, the researcher used two kind of instruments which were questionnaire and writing narrative text test. The data collected in this research were analyzed by Pearson product moment using SPSS version 25 for windows. According to the result of the analysis and statistical calculation, it was found that r was 0.480. It is showed that the correlation between students reading habit and their ability of writing narrative text of tenth grade of SMAK Harapan Denpasar in academic year 2022/2023, it lies between. 0.401-0.600 which is medium level. However, to know whether there is significant correlation between both variables, the researcher used t - testing using SPSS version 25 for windows and it is found t was 36.097. It is showed that the significant correlation between students reading habit and their ability of writing narrative text of tenth grade of SMAK Harapan Denpasar in academic year 2022/2023.
