THE CORRELATION BETWEEN SELF-CONFIDENCE AND SPEAKING ACHIEVEMENT OF EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMP N 3 MENGWI IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2022/2023

The primary objective of this study is to investigate whether there is a significant correlation between self-confidence and speaking achievement of the eighth-grade students of SMPN 3 Mengwi 2022/2023 academic year. In this study the researcher uses the cluster random sampling. The subjects where 32 subjects consist of 16 male and 16 female. The design was correlational research design. In collecting the data of this research, the writer used two instruments which were selfconfidence questionnaire consisted of 30 items and monologue speaking test. The data was analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment Correlation This study was designed to test the research hypothesis that there is a positive correlation between self-confidence and speaking achievement. Hypothesis tests are computed using her SPSS 25 version for Windows. Referring to the data, the study concluded that there was a positive and significant correlation between eighth grade student's confidence in SMPN 3 Mengwi in the 2022/2023 academic year and their performance in speaking. increase.
