Abstract

This study aimed at finding out how students’ vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension of the eighth grade students in SMPN 2 Mengwi. It made use of a correlation research design. The samples consist of 32 students. They were chosen by random sampling technique. The data which were needed for this research were collected through administering vocabulary mastery test and reading comprehension test as the research instruments and delivered by using WhatsApp platform. The obtained data were analysed by investigating the correlation between students’ vocabulary mastery test score and reading comprehension test score which was done by using IBM SPSS Statistic 23. The result of the correlation between students’ vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension was 0.627. It described that there is a significant correlation between students’ vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension of the eighth grade students of SMPN 2 Mengwi in academic year 2021/2022. In conclusion, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted.
