THE PSYCHOPATHIC INVESTIGATION ON THE MAIN CHARACTER EMMA IN THE BAD SEED FILM BY ROB LOWE

This research investigates Emma as the main character in The Bad Seed (2018) film by Rob Lowe who suffered from the psychopathic disorder. Emma is a nine-year-old child who shows traits of a psychopath, such as using all means including charm to accomplish her goals even if she has to kill others without guilt or empathy. This research aims to determine the type and characteristics of psychopathy depicted by Emma as the identification of psychopath. The author used the qualitative method to explain the analysis results and applied theories from Millon and Davis (1998) also DSM-5 (2013). The first finding shows that Emma suffered Malignant Psychopath, who exhibits jealousy and deep resentment toward others which are believed as the personality background or foundation of this psychopath type. While in the second finding, the characteristics of Emma’s psychopathy behavior are callousness, deceitfulness, manipulation, hostility, impulsivity, irresponsibility, and risk-taking. With these implications, it is expected that all of us might identify someone who has psychopathic disorder to be alert and protect ourselves in society.
