CODE SWITCHING FOUND IN THE CONVERSATION BETWEEN BUNGA CITRA LESTARI AND DANIEL MANANTA ON “IT’S ME BCL” YOUTUBE CHANNEL

This study concerned on code switching Indonesian-English language in the conversation between Bunga Citra Lestari and Daniel Mananta utterances in IT’S ME BCL YouTube Channel. The study aimed to analyze the types and the reasons of code switching that were found in the conversation between Bunga Citra Lestari and Daniel Mananta utterances in IT’S ME BCL YouTube Channel. Qualitative method is used for this study for analyzing the data collected from three videos. The method is applied in order to give clear description on the data according to theory proposed by Poplack (1980) about three types of code switching, there are tag switching, inter-sentential switching, and intra-sentential switching, and theory proposed by Hoffman (1991) about seven reasons of code switching, there are talking about particular topic, quoting somebody else, being emphatic about something, interjection (inserting sentence fillers or sentence connectors), repetition used for clarification, intention of clarifying the speech content for interlocutor, and expressing group identity. For the types of code switching, intrasentential switching dominated the data there were 66 data. There were also 27 data of inter-sentential switching and 10 data of tag switching. The result of the reasons of code switching, there were 33 data of talking about particular topic, 27 data of being emphatic about something, 16 data of repetition used for clarification, 10 data of expressing group identity, 8 data of interjection, 5 data of quoting somebody else, 4 data of intention of clarifying the speech content for interlocutor.
