Abstract

“The study aims are to recognize the types of translation shift of adjective phrase and to analyze how the translation equivalent of adjective phrase occurs in the translation shift found in subtitle Red Notice 2021 Movie. In analyzing the types of translation shift of adjective phrase used the theory from Catford (1965) while in analyzing the translation equivalent used the theory from Bell (1991). To collect the data, this study used observation method and in analyzing the data this study used qualitative descriptive method. The data source was taken from Red Notice 2021 movie. The result of this study for the types of translation shift are 23 level shift, 11 structure shift, 9 class shift, 21 unit shift except intra-system shift. Meanwhile the translation equivalent results are 25 fully equivalent, 33 decreased meaning, 1 increased meaning, non-equivalent 4 in different meaning and 1 for no meaning. The dominant types of translation shift are the level shift and the least data are class shift. Meanwhile in translation equivalent the most frequent type is decreased meaning, the least data in equivalent of partly equivalent is increased meaning and in non-equivalent the least data is no meaning.
