Abstract

This study focused on the analysis of the types of translation procedures found in the subtitle of “Encanto” movie and to describe how the translation procedures applied in “Encanto” movie subtitle. This study uses descriptive qualitative method. The data source in this research is the subtitle of “Encanto” movie. The data were collected by watching the movie, reading the script, analyzing the types of translation procedures, comparing the conversation with the script, classifying and identifying word, phrase, and clause, at last is choosing and note-taking the kinds of data. The data were observed and analyzed based on the theory from Newmark (1988) about translation procedures. The result of this study was presented in the tables and verbal description. The result of the research showed that there were 11 types of translation procedures occurring, namely Literal translation is 24 data (30%), Transference is 6 data (7,5%), Naturalisation is 6 data (7,5%), Cultural Equivalent is 13 data (16,25%), Synonymy is 1 data (1,25%), Modulation is 8 data (10%), Transposition is 6 data (7,5%), Paraphrase is 3 data (3,75%), Reduction and Expansion is 5 data (6,25%), Compensation is 3 data (3,75%), and Couplets is 5 data (6,25%). While, the most applied translation procedures found in this thesis is Literal with 27 data found about 33,75%
