Abstract

Writing is one of the productive skills in learning English, which is used to communicate the language in the written form. The present study aimed at figuring out whether writing skill of the tenth-grade students of SMKN 5 Denpasar can be improved through the implementation of PPP technique. PPP was used as the teaching technique of writing which consisted of three stages: Presentation, Practice and Production. The research was mainly based on the preliminary study involving 39 tenth-grade students of SMKN 5 Denpasar in academic year 2021/2022. The research design was classroom action research, and the research was carried out through implementing PPP technique in two cycles. Furthermore, the obtained data were gathered by administering pre-test, post-test 1, post-test 2 and questionnaire. The results showed that there was a significant improvement in the subjects’ descriptive text writing ability. The structured questionnaire proved that the subjects agreed toward the implementation of PPP technique during the teaching learning process. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that writing skill of the tenth-grade students of SMKN 5 Denpasar in academic year 2021/2022 can be improved through PPP technique.
