Abstract

Writing skill is one of four important skills which has to be essentially mastered. In fact, most of the students in senior high school faced problem in writing skill. The objective of the present study was to find out whether the extent of writing skill of the tenth grade students of SMA (SLUA) Saraswati I Denpasar in academic year 2019/2020 could be improved through PPP with picture description through a classroom action research. There for to achieve the objective of the present study the researcher activities consisted of pre-test, post test and questionnaire. The result of the pre-test clearly showed that the subject under study were low 64.1 Then, the researcher applied PPP with picture description to increase the ability of the subjects under study. The post-tests were administered at the end of each cycle by using picture description. The result of the of post -test in cycle I and cycle II were 71.3 and 76.4 The signification different figured that cycle II was more effective than cycle I. Moreover, to collect the additional supporting data, the researcher administered the questionnaire at the end cycle II. It showed that the students’ motivation and attitude changed positively after the implementation of PPP with picture description. To sum up, the present classroom action research proved that writing ability of the tenth grade students of SMA (SLUA) Saraswati I Denpasar in academic year 2019/2020 could be improved through PPP with picture description through a classroom action research. In addition, the subjects also responded positively.
