IMPROVING WRITING SKILL OF THE SEVENTH- GRADE STUDENTS OF SMPN 5 MENGWI IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2024/2025 THROUGH ROUNDTABLE

Writing is one of the important language skills among reading, listening, and speaking. By mastering writing skill, someone can write well to express their idea to others. However, there are several problems experienced by students in learning English, including writing a correct Paragraph. The present research objective was mainly intended to find out whether Writing Skills of the seventh- grade students of SMPN 5 Mengwi in academic year 2024/2025 could be improved through Roundtable. The present study used the classroom action research design that was conducted in two cycles. The required data were collected by administering research instruments: Descriptive Paragraph. After the cyclical research processes, it was found that Roundtable was appropriate teaching technique to improve the subjects’ writing skill, especially in writing descriptive paragraph . It could be seen from the results of the pre-test, post-test 1 and post-test 2, which showed significant improvement in the subjects’ Writing skill. Furthermore, it was supported by the structured questionnaire, which showed positive responses to the implementation of Roundtable. It can be concluded that Writing skill of the Seventh-grade students of SMPN 5 Mengwi in academic year 2024/2025 could be improved by implementing Roundtable.
