IMPROVING WRITING SKILL OF THE SEVENTH- GRADE STUDENTS OF SMP NEGERI 14 DENPASAR IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2024/2025 THROUGH TELL- SHOW STRATEGY COMBINED WITH PICTURES

The present study aimed at figuring out whether the writing skills of the seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 14 Denpasar can be improved through the implementation of Tell-Show Combined with Picture. It is a strategy that used T- chart, and it is supported by pictures as media. The research was mainly based on the preliminary study of 41 subjects, the seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 14 Denpasar in the academic year 2024/2025. The research design was classroom action research, and the research was carried out through implementing Tell-Show Combined with Picture in two cycles. In addition, the data were gathered by administering a pre-test, post-test 1, post-test 2, and a questionnaire. Pre-test results showed that the students’ writing skill were low 50.17. To improve the subjects’ writing skill, the researcher used Tell-Show combined with Picture. The results of post-test I showed that the subject had made less improvement 63.26. In post-test II, the students writing skill significantly improved, rising from a decent to an excellent level of 79.75. The results of the questionnaire proved that 53.25% the subjects strongly agreed and 37.93% the subjects agreed with the implementation of the Tell-Show Combined with Picture during the teaching and learning process. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that writing skill of the seventh- grade students of SMP Negeri 14 Denpasar in the academic year 2024/2025 can be improved through implementing Tell-Show Combined with Picture.
