IMPROVING WRITING SKILL OF THE SEVENTH- GRADE STUDENTS OF SMP NEGERI 3 MENGWI IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2024/2025 THROUGH TELL- SHOW STRATEGY COMBINED WITH PICTURE

Writing skill is one of four important skills which has to be essentially mastered. In fact, most of the students in senior high school faced problem in writing skill. The objective of the present study was to find out whether the writing skill of the seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Mengwi in academic year 2024/2025 can be improved through Tell-Show Combined with Picture. The research was used 34 subjects of seventh-grade students. The research design was classroom action research and carried out in two cycles which each cycle consists of two sessions. The data were gathered by conduct activities consisted of pre-test, post-test 1, post-test 2, and questionnaire. The results of the main data showed that there was a significant improvement in the subjects writing skill, especially in writing a descriptive paragraph. The results of the questionnaire showed that the subjects agreed with the implementation of the Tell-Show Combined with Picture can improve their writing skills. It can be concluded that writing skill of the seventh- grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Mengwi in the academic year 2024/2025 can be improved through implementing Tell-Show Combined with Picture.
