IMPROVING WRITING SKILL OF THE SEVENTH- GRADE STUDENTS OF SMP NEGERI HINDU 3 BLAHBATUH IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2024/2025 THROUGH PPP

Writing is an essential productive skill that enables students to express ideas, improve communication, and achieve academic and professional success. This classroom action research aimed to examine the effectiveness of the PPP (Presentation, Practice, and Production) method in enhancing the writing skills of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri Hindu 3 Blahbatuh during the 2024/2025 academic year. The study involved class VII/E, comprising 32 students, and was conducted over two cycles, each consisting of two sessions. Data collection methods included pre-tests, post-tests, and questionnaires. The research was initiated based on the pre-test results during the initial reflection, which revealed that students struggled with writing descriptive texts. They encountered difficulties in applying format, punctuation, mechanics, content development, organization, and grammar. These challenges highlighted the need for an effective teaching method to address these issues systematically. The findings demonstrated significant improvements in the students' writing abilities. The mean score rose from 45.69 in the pre-test to 70.38 in the post-test of cycle 1 and further increased to 78.19 in the post-test of cycle 2. Additionally, responses to the questionnaire indicated positive student attitudes toward implementing the PPP method. The results revealed that 56.45% of students strongly agreed, 42.09% agreed, 1.46% were undecided, and none disagreed or strongly disagreed with the technique’s effectiveness. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the PPP method effectively improved the writing skills of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri Hindu 3 Blahbatuh, particularly in crafting descriptive paragraphs.
