Abstract

Writing is one of the four language skills that students need to master. This skill is a means for students to express their ideas in writing. However, many students still experience difficulties in writing, especially in composing descriptive paragraphs. The students often face obstacles such as limited vocabulary, understanding the structure of descriptive paragraphs, and lack of unity and coherence in their writing. This study aims to analyze whether the writing skills of seventh-grade students of SMPN 1 Ubud in the 2024/2025 academic year can be improved through the application of the Think Talk Write (TTW) strategy. The study used a Classroom Action Research design (CAR) which was implemented in two cycles. Data were collected through descriptive paragraph writing tests in the pre-test and post-test, as well as structured questionnaires given to the research subjects. The findings of the study indicated that a significant increase from the pre-test to post-test II scores, namely from 68.45 in the pre-test, to 75.32 in post- test I, and increased again to 83.18 in post-test II. In addition, the questionnaire results at the end of cycle II showed positive responses from students towards the TTW strategy. Thus, it can be concluded that the Think Talk Write strategy effectively improves the writing skill of seventh-grade students of SMPN 1 Ubud in Academic Year 2024/2025.
