IMPROVING WRITING SKILL THROUGH SIMULTANEOUS ROUNDTABLE COMBINED WITH PICTURE OF THE SEVENTH-GRADE STUDENTS OF SMP DWIJENDRA DENPASAR IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2024/2025

Writing is classified as a productive skill in the context of language learning. It is one of the fundamental language skills that students must learn. Therefore, writing is a fundamental productive language skill, and students in learning a language, especially English. The use of the teaching technique in the teaching learning process is crucial. This classroom action research aimed to improve the writing skills of seventh-grade students at SMP Dwijendra Denpasar using the Simultaneous Roundtable technique combined with pictures. The study focused on descriptive paragraph writing, emphasizing the generic structure and coherence. The research subjects consisted of 31 students from class VII D, with data collected through pre-tests, post-tests, and questionnaires. The research was conducted in two cycles, each involving planning, action, observation, and reflection. The results revealed that the students' mean scores improved from 62.67 in the pre-test to 76.12 in Cycle I and 82.32 in Cycle II. By the end of Cycle II, 84% of the students achieved the minimum passing grade, indicating the success of the study. Additionally, 96% of the students responded positively to the implementation of the Simultaneous Roundtable technique with pictures, highlighting its effectiveness in enhancing student motivation and engagement. The findings suggest that the Simultaneous Roundtable combined with pictures is an effective teaching technique for improving writing skills, particularly in descriptive paragraph writing. This study provides valuable insights for educators and contributes to the development of innovative teaching technique.
