Abstract
This study aims to explore various kinds of figurative expressions present in Conan Gray’s “Found Heaven” album and to analyze the meaning behind the lyrics. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach to analyze the data. The analysis reveals a total of 20 figurative expressions in the album. Among the figurative languages found in the lyrics, hyperbole appears most frequently with five occurrences. This is followed by simile, and personification, each occurring three times, indicating their important role in building vivid imagery and conveying deep emotional messages. Additionally, the presence of other figurative expressions, though less frequent, also contributes to enriching the lyrical content, enhancing its poetic quality and reinforcing the emotional depth conveyed through the lyrics. In terms of meaning, the analysis reveals four categories: connotative, affective, conceptual, and social meaning. Connotative meaning appears most frequently (10 occurrences), followed by affective (7 occurrences), conceptual (2 occurrences), and social meaning (1 occurrence). These findings imply that figurative language is not only used for artistic purposes but also plays an important role in building emotional connection and delivering deeper messages.
