AN ANALYSIS OF FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE IN “ROSIE” : ROSÉ’S ALBUM

The study aims to analyze the types of figurative language in the song lyrics and to analyze the types of meaning found in Rosie : Rosé’s Album. This study uses descriptive-qualitative method to find and analyze the types of figurative language and the meaning in the song lyrics. The data were taken from song lyrics in Rosie : Rosé’s album and analyzed by adopted the theory by Abrams and Harpham (2011) to analyze the types of figurative language and a framework by Leech (1981) to analyze the types of meaning. The finding showed 40 data of metaphor, 20 data of hyperbole, 14 data of paradox, seven data of metonymy, eight data of irony, five data of personification, one data of allusion, and one data of synecdoche. The result of meaning found 48 data of affective meaning, 38 data of connotative meaning, four data of thematic meaning, three data of social meaning, two data of conceptual meaning, and one data of reflective meaning
