Abstract
This study aims to identify the types of characterization and to explain how characterization is constructed in the main character in The Greatest Showman (2017). The data source of this research is the film The Greatest Showman (2017), focusing on P.T. Barnum as the main character because he plays a central role in the narrative and character development in the film. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method. The data were collected through observation of the film, including dialogues, scenes, and song lyrics, and were analyzed using Egri’s three-dimensional character theory and Kenney’s theory of characterization. The findings reveal that P.T. Barnum is portrayed as a dynamic and developing character whose physiological, sociological, and psychological dimensions influence his motivations and actions throughout the film
