Abstract

This study examined the code-mixing found in Maudy Ayunda's daily vlogs on the YouTube channel. The aims were to classify and identify the types and reasons for code-mixing. Hoffman's (1991) theory was employed to divide the problems that occurred in this study. The descriptive-qualitative method was used to classify the analysis data. The data was taken from eight videos of Maudy Ayunda on the YouTube channel. Based on the research results, three types of codemixing were found, of which intra-sentential was the most dominant type with 105 data points and an accuracy rate of 82%. As for the reasons for code-mixing, this study found seven reasons, among which talking about a particular topic was the most dominant, with 110 data points and an accuracy rate of 86.05%. From the data on the types and reasons for code-mixing, it can be concluded that Maudy Ayunda used code-mixing because she felt more convenience, according to the topic, to convey ideas or expressions more quickly and efficiently and to ensure that the language used could be understood through mixing one language into another.
