Abstract

Abstrak

Fusobacterium nucleatum merupakan bakteri anaerob gram negatif yangberada di dalam rongga mulut dan dapat memiliki peran yang sangat penting dalampembentukan biofilm gigi dan penyakit periodontal. Daun bidara Arab (Ziziphusspina-christ- L.) merupakan salah satu tanaman yang mempunyai aktivitas sangattinggi terhadap menghambat bahkan membunuh mikroorganisme.Tujuan penelitianini adalah untuk mengetahui besar daya hambat konsentrasi masing-masing dariekstrak daun bidara Arab (Ziziphus spina christ-L) dalam menghambatpertumbuhan bakteri Fusobacterium nucleatum. Metode dari penelitian ini adalahmenggunakan metode eksperimental untuk menguji aktivitas antibakteri ekstrakdaun bidara Arab (Ziziphus spina-christ L.) secara in vitro. Metode yang digunakanpada penelitian ini yaitu metode Kirby Bauer. Penelitian ini dilakukan pengulangansebanyak enam kali dan terdapat 4 kelompok perlakuan yaitu konsentrasi40%,60%, kontrol positif (Tetrasiklin) dan kontrol negatif (Etanol 96%). Hasilpenelitian menunjukan bahwa ekstrak daun bidara Arab (Ziziphus spina-christ L.)dengan konsentrasi 60% memiliki daya hambat rata-rata sebesar 15,450 mm Padakonsentrasi 40% memiliki daya hambat rata-rata sebesar 13,542 mm. Analisis datamenggunakan uji Kruskall-Wallis (non parametric). Hasil penelitian dapatdisimpulkan bahwa ekstrak daun bidara arab dengan konsentrasi 60% memilikidaya hambat kategori kuat terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Fusobacteriumnucleatum.

Abstract

Fusobacterium nucleatum is a gram-negative anaerobic bacterium that residesin the oral cavity and can have a very important role in the formation of dentalbiofilm and periodontal disease. Arabian bidara leaves (Ziziphus spina-christ-L.)are a plant that has very high activity in inhibiting and even killing microorganisms.The content of antibacterial compounds that can inhibit the growth ofFusobacterium nucleatum bacteria in the leaves of Arabian bidara (Ziziphus spinachrist-L.), namely flavonoids, alkaloids, steroids, saponins, tannins. The aim of thisresearch was to determine the inhibitory power of each concentration of Arabianbidara leaf extract (Ziziphus spina christ-L) in inhibiting the growth ofFusobacterium nucleatum bacteria. The method of this research is to useexperimental methods to test the antibacterial activity of Arabian bidara leaf extract(Ziziphus spina-christ L.) in vitro. The method used in this research is the KirbyBauer method. This research was repeated six times and there were 4 treatmentgroups, namely 40%, 60% concentration, positive control (Tetracycline) andnegative control (96% Ethanol). The results of the research showed that Arabianbidara leaf extract (Ziziphus spina-christ L.) with a concentration of 60% had anaverage inhibitory power of 15,450 mm. At a concentration of 40% it had anaverage inhibitory power of 13,542 mm. The negative control had no reaction orwas constant in the first to fourth repetitions. The positive control has a resistanceof 19,517 mm, the highest resistance is 19,800 mm and the lowest resistance is19,200 mm. Data analysis used the Kruskall-Wallis test (non-parametric) becausethe data was normally distributed but not homogeneous. From the research results,it can be concluded that Arabic bidara leaf extract with concentrations of 60% hasa strong inhibitory effect on the growth of Fusobacterium nucleatum bacteria
